(technically it’s 13” diameter (Ooni comparison guide), but because we’re all familiar with the standard pizza sizing conventions, they opted to call it a “12”.
‘12’, means it’s good to make a 12 inch sized pizza.

Koda and Kaur both have 12 and 16 models.

That's the Karu 12 wood pellet pizza oven!
Mmmm! Traditionally cooked wood oven pizza’s are so tasty! 🍕 🤤 The Ooni Karu 12 pizza oven is bringing you that all natural wood-fired flavour seeped into every bite! Plus it’s fast and easy to use.
We like to use charcoal over pellets. You'll get more stable temperatures and similar flavour with a good charcoal, and top it off with some hardwood for a bit extra flavour. And, that's also a more cost effective way of doing it.

The Ooni Fyra, a successor to the original Ooni 3, is an excellent entry point into the world of pizza ovens. Its portable design and weight of only 22 lbs make it perfect for homeowners with limited outdoor space or those who enjoy taking their pizza-making on the go.
The Fyra utilizes hardwood pellets as its heat source, which imparts a unique, smoky flavor to your pizzas. The innovative gravity-fed pellet hopper automatically feeds through hardwood pellets for effortless cooking. Available at an attractive price of $479, it's a top pick for pizza enthusiasts seeking a high-quality, affordable wood-fired oven. While it requires some attention for optimal pellet burning, the incredible flavors and fast cooking times make it a worthy addition to any outdoor cooking setup. Ooni Karu 12G
This Multi-Fuel 12” Pizza Oven is the newest in the product line labeled as the ‘world’s most advanced portable pizza oven’ using over 36% less fuel than previous models.
Ooni Volt 12 Electric
The Volt is set to debut August 2023 and is the first of its kind. An all electric pizza oven, compact, powerful, and good for both Indoor and Outdoor Use. And it looks pretty neat too.
The Lowdown
To sum up, your choice of Ooni pizza oven depends on your fuel preference, need for portability, desired pizza size, and whether you want to cook dishes other than pizza.
It really boils down to two separate conversations in our opinion. The convenience of gas is awesome but the authentic flavour you get from wood or pellet fired pizza is pretty epic and a big bonus in our eyes. So the Karu 12/16 for the flavour/experience, or choose the Koda for quick convenience.
Go big or go home, kinda person? Choose the Karu 16 “the beast”, and add natural gas hook up!
Whichever you choose, each Ooni pizza oven will undoubtedly deliver delicious, restaurant-quality pizza to your home. Happy cooking!
