NEW Blaze King Sentry 14 Review - Tiny Cabin Wood Stove Review

The Wood Stove That Is Taking the Market by Force

The wood stove that is taking the market by force is the Blaze King Sentry 14.

How does it line up compared to other similar performing models like the Jotul 602 or the Hearthstone Lincoln?

Blaze King's brand new Sentry 14 has hit the market. We got one of the first on the floor in Canada. It is the most exciting release from Blaze King in a long time.

The Sentry 14 has a 1.4 cubic foot firebox. Despite the size, I am blown away at how big a glass they got on this guy.

This thing is going to take over the small home and cabin market by force because of its 14-hour burn time in optimal conditions.

You get maximum control with Blaze King's catalytic technology and airflow systems. Not to mention the storage underneath this thing for your wood.

Blaze King Sentry surpasses every other comparable model on clearances at just 9 and 12 inches off the side of this unit. This means the flexibility of installing this thing is bar none.

Blaze King Sentry 14 Design and Construction

What I love about this thing is that it brought the standard Blaze King aesthetics similar to the Sirocco and condensed all of it.

You get the beautiful wood handle on there.

What I love about it is the fully rounded edges, so you do not have any seams in the firebox. It is fully bent and formed steel.

What is interesting about this guy is what you see inside. To make this all work, they had to put fire bricks along the inner wall from bottom to top, allowing you to have maximum heat retention in your Blaze King.

Blaze King says under optimal conditions this stove is going to pump out heat for 14 hours.

With my experience with Blaze King, I suspect what that means is you are going to get an 8 to 10 hour burn with no problem at all. That is amazing and unparalleled in the industry for this size of fireplace.

What people are saying online about Blaze King Sentry 14?

One great comment from the Hearth forum.

Comparing the Jotul 602 V3

We are going to talk about the most popular selling small wood stove in the market, the Jotul 602 V3.

This guy is now a catalytic stove as well, so you are going to get good efficient burns out of it.

The downside is you are not going to get anywhere near the fuel capacity that you will get out of the Sentry 14.

Despite its size, the clearances required to get this stove are very comparable to the Sentry 14. This one requires 21 inches off the side of the unit.

Compared to the 9 1/2 inches off the Sirocco, you can see how even with the narrower base and the 21 inches, it takes up more space than the 9 1/2 inches off of this guy.

If you are okay with a little bit extra size, you are going to get optimal performance going to the Blaze King Sentry.

That being said, if you are not burning a heck of a lot and you really love that classical style, you really cannot go wrong with the 602. It really is an amazing unit and a completely different style and design compared to the Sentry.

Capacity in the 602 V3 is nowhere near the Blaze King, but the clearances required to combustibles allow them to fit and take up about the same space in a house.

Comparing the Hearthstone Lincoln

Or you could look at the Lincoln Hearthstone, one of our most inquired wood stoves for smaller homes and cabins.

This guy runs off similar catalytic technology. You pretty much have to in order to meet the EPA standards on these little guys.

This one is a little bit different. This guy is all cast and it has the soapstone exterior, so it is a beautiful stove.

What we find is when you go and throw these things in and measure up your clearance to combustibles, it far exceeds what you would ever expect from a stove of this size.

You get a beautiful display on this guy. It is an awesome stove. The performance of it is incredible as well.

That soapstone for heat retention is unparalleled out of all three units in my opinion.

Of course they all run off a 6 inch flue, so that does not really change.

You are going to be going from a four to a 6 hour maximum burn in this guy. Even less than that in the 602, even with the catalyst technology.

The Sentry 14, on the other hand, can max that thing out in the 12 to 14 hour range. It depends what you are doing.

Tiny Cabin or Smaller House. Which One Are You Going With?

I do not want to be chopping firewood while I am out hanging out at my cabin all weekend.

I want to be able to sit back and enjoy that ambiance, if you know what I am saying.

If you have a tiny cabin in the woods or a smaller house, where are you going?

The Hearthstone Lincoln, the 602 Jotul, or Blaze King's brand new Sentry 14?
